Wooden shutters have been a part of every man's life. No matter what, we have installed them since ages. In ancient times, people used wood and other materials in order to embellish their rooms and homes. Similarly, even today, people strive hard to make things look flawless, especially rooms and the houses. Shutters play a very important role in beautification of your house. Wooden shutters were mostly used by the people of past era. However, even today majority of people prefer wooden shutters. Exterior shutters are very common today as they protect and secure the windows from outside. When you install these shutters, you will get the feeling of relaxation and comfort. You will be surprised to know that these also come in exquisite and enticing designs.
When most people think of blackout curtains, generally the concept of style is not of importance. However, these items; despite the fact they are used mainly for their functionality, do act as a dominant visual stimulant to the space. As such, it is important to ensure you find a specific style of blackout drapery that will meld well with the pre-existing accessories in your space to avoid any unwanted styling clashes that might occur otherwise.
Manually operated rods offer an alternative to mounted draperies that need to draw. This type opens and closes by manually pulling the drapes to the desired position. The last type of drapery rod is stationary. This type of rod will slide through a rod pocket along the top of the drapery. Stationary rods can be wood or metal and are on grommet, rod pocket, or tab top drapes. When measuring for drapes, check for obstructions. For example, do you have a low soffit or kitchen counter ending right up to your patio door? Do you plan on adding a top treatment, valance, or cornice? If not, consider a decorative rod. To measure your length, measure about 4-5 inches above your opening.
Think about what's under and behind your drapery when selecting your drapery hardware. There are three common terms that drapery hardware professionals use when talking about the spacing of your drapery hardware treatment. Projection, clearance and return. Projection typically refers to how far the decorative hardware elements will "stick out" or project into the room from the wall. The return measurement is usually the distance the drapery must bend back to reach the wall when it's hanging from your drapery rod. And, clearance refers to the open space behind the drapery and back to the wall. Or, "how much room do I have behind the curtain to hang another rod, window blind or sheer"? You'll notice that I've qualified each term loosely, and for good reason. Depending on who you're speaking with, either a drapery maker, installer or hardware fabricator; clearance, projection and return can mean different things.
How you decorate your home is a reflection of your personal aesthetic. There are certain decor elements, like window treatments, that can help you express that style in an effective, direct manner. When it comes to window coverings, it can be hard to find a ready-made product that truly reflects your taste. Custom draperies, however, let you craft the exact appearance you want to implement. No matter what your style is, you will be able to find the right drapery window treatment to suit your vision.
Draperies can be used with or without window blinds to create an aesthetically pleasing window treatment for your home. Not all draperies have the insulated backing so you can get them with or without this feature. Draperies come in a wide variety of fabrics so if you don't necessarily need window treatments that offer further insulation, you can still get the beautiful look and feel of draperies without that feature.
