Rings. Not all curtains and draperies are attached to the rod using rings. It depends on how the draperies are constructed whether or not you will need the rings. Rings can add a decorative touch though and come in a wide variety of styles. They are easily attached to the rod and the drapes and offer added stability. Rings allow the draperies to easily glide along the rod without getting stuck so for rods that may not be as smooth as others, rings can come in handy.
In choosing your drapery hooks for a specific theme or correlating drapery; there are a couple of items to consider that play an important role in determining whether or not the hooks will meld well with the pre-existing conditions of your theme. Consumers will be happy to know there are window treatments and drapes that are sewn exclusively in the United States. Drapes are some of the most versatile window treatments in terms of fabric choices. Fabrics may be heavier silks and satins for a more formal look, or they can be lightweight linens for a clean, soft look. Some drapes are embroidered for added detailing in decorating, while others offer simple lines for background ambiance. Curtain rods also come in a variety of styles and finishes. Rod ends can be purchased in standard wood or bronze, or to excite things, blown art glass and ceramic ends can finish off a room nicely. Drapery styles offer privacy, protection from glare, but most importantly, they bring style to a home.
Draperies in today's lingo generally refer interchangeably to drapes and curtains. However, this is not strictly true. Traditionally, windows would be treated with up to three layers of curtain: a light sash which filters light, a draw curtain to block light completely, and an over-drapery which functioned decoratively only. Moreover, in formal rooms, these layers of curtain may have been covered with a valence to hide hardware. However, modern rooms are treated with draperies differently, and sashes are often called curtains, while draperies are those materials that draw to completely cover a window and block light.
You can do the researching online as well, but it's not recommended because only you know what's in your house. The only way you would do researching online is if you have settled on what kind of draperies you want to get and you want to check to see if your favorite store has them, which also would be included in your planning. You might also have to take measurements because you could have a window that might not work with draperies. In your case, let's hope that's not the issue. If you're the kind of person who gets all crazy when it comes to matching everything, then you might also want to take a picture of the color scheme in your house and take it to any store and get some color samples to take home and browse different colors whether their unusual or not.
Draperies can be purchased either ready made, semi custom, or custom. Ready make are best if you need it up now. There is a large selection and ship quickly. They are alto the most economically priced. They usually come in sized to fit most common size windows, Next is semi custom. On semi custom the width is fixed and the length is make to your measurements, maximum is about 120 inches. This is a good choice if you have high windows, or if you want your draperies to puddle (form soft folds on the floor).
