Think about what's under and behind your drapery when selecting your drapery hardware. There are three common terms that drapery hardware professionals use when talking about the spacing of your drapery hardware treatment. Projection, clearance and return. Projection typically refers to how far the decorative hardware elements will "stick out" or project into the room from the wall. The return measurement is usually the distance the drapery must bend back to reach the wall when it's hanging from your drapery rod. And, clearance refers to the open space behind the drapery and back to the wall. Or, "how much room do I have behind the curtain to hang another rod, window blind or sheer"? You'll notice that I've qualified each term loosely, and for good reason. Depending on who you're speaking with, either a drapery maker, installer or hardware fabricator; clearance, projection and return can mean different things.
* Ring Top Drapery comes with sewn in drapery rings. Rings are available in a variety of finishes to accent the drapery hardware and rod. Drapery rings are included with choice of either metal or wood rings. Metal rings generally accommodate a drapery rod up to 1 1/2 inch in diameter while wood rings usually accommodate a curtain rod up to 1 3/8 inch in diameter. * French pleat drapery panels bring a European flair to any home. The tucked pleat in the front brings a quaint charm to any room. These blinds are attached with a clip on the back that hooks into a pin. The fabric appears to sit above the rod, concealing most of the rod except the ends. Decorative ends can be used to dress up the curtains. * Grommet drapery panels have a grommet or bronze ring sewn into the fabric. The hole in the ring is what goes over the curtain rod. Grommet panels are fairly common.
In the old days, drapery consisted of hanging curtains on your window and that was it. What you hung it on didn't matter, as long as that they look good. Today, it's not that easy. With the trend of specialization, there are tools for most things out there that it takes an effort to keep track of them. And draperies are no exception. We now have. What is called drapery hardware? And for the free spirits out there, we have custom drapery hardware.
Rings. Not all curtains and draperies are attached to the rod using rings. It depends on how the draperies are constructed whether or not you will need the rings. Rings can add a decorative touch though and come in a wide variety of styles. They are easily attached to the rod and the drapes and offer added stability. Rings allow the draperies to easily glide along the rod without getting stuck so for rods that may not be as smooth as others, rings can come in handy.
You might have some idea about the kind of drapery that would be perfect to adorn your home well. It may be quite possible that you are not satisfied by the kind of drapery that you ordered or stitched yourself. The solution now lies in custom drapes. Custom drapery makers would meet your requirements and stand tall to your expectations. Contact one of these custom drapery makers and tell them your requirements. Make sure that you don't miss out on a single detail. Describe in detail whatever you picture be it the style that you want (pleated or non pleated, flowing or fitting), floral, geometric or self colour.
Draperies in today's lingo generally refer interchangeably to drapes and curtains. However, this is not strictly true. Traditionally, windows would be treated with up to three layers of curtain: a light sash which filters light, a draw curtain to block light completely, and an over-drapery which functioned decoratively only. Moreover, in formal rooms, these layers of curtain may have been covered with a valence to hide hardware. However, modern rooms are treated with draperies differently, and sashes are often called curtains, while draperies are those materials that draw to completely cover a window and block light.
