Decide how often you're going to open and close your drapery. If you're going to frequently open and close your drapes (also called traversing your draperies), then you'll probably want to choose a traverse style drapery rod. This style of curtain rod has cords that allow you to open or close your drapery easily. Traverse rods can open from the middle, or they can open from one side or the other. The way the drapery opens is called the draw. Split draw traverse rods open from the middle, one-way traverse rods open from either the left or right side.
Most people aren't aware of the variety of drapery styles available. From rod pocket drapery to ring top drapery - with clips or rings - to French pleat drapery and grommet drapery, there are styles to complete the look of any interior design. The following five styles are among the most popular: * Rod pocket drapery panels are designed so the curtain fabric wraps around the drapery rod without any clips or grommets. The drapery pocket sewn into the top of the fabric will accommodate any drapery rod up to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Each rod pocket drapery panel comes with fullness so enter the size area you need to cover. Just as with textiles, some drapes are made overseas and some are hand sewn in the USA. Check with manufacturers if you prefer products made in the US. * Ring Top Drapery Panels have clip on rings. The rings then attach to the drape and fit over a drapery rod. Most rings are made of either wood or metal finishes. Rods are also available in wood and metal frames and a variety or finishes - matted metal, different color stains and more. Liners are usually available as an upgrade.
When most people think of blackout curtains, generally the concept of style is not of importance. However, these items; despite the fact they are used mainly for their functionality, do act as a dominant visual stimulant to the space. As such, it is important to ensure you find a specific style of blackout drapery that will meld well with the pre-existing accessories in your space to avoid any unwanted styling clashes that might occur otherwise.
Blackout drapery is an important aspect to the overall design of your space. To begin with, it poses an important function in blocking out unwanted light to a specific area; generally in bedrooms for people who work nights and sleep during the day. As such, these unique accessories consist of thick and heavy fabrics that exhibit both longevity as well as extreme efficiency in their functionality.

Regardless of how you define draperies, decorating your windows with the right colour and material can make or break a room. In fact, even more minor details such as the shape, length, and style of draperies can have a significant impact. Ultimately, when decorating with drapes or curtains, you should consider these features in the bigger picture of the room. Are you looking to create a bright, breezy appearance that would be best served with a lighter, more colourful fabric? Or are you trying to create an elegant, traditional design that might best be served by heavy drapes with embroidered details? The function or purpose of the room should influence your drapery decorating decisions.
Rings. Not all curtains and draperies are attached to the rod using rings. It depends on how the draperies are constructed whether or not you will need the rings. Rings can add a decorative touch though and come in a wide variety of styles. They are easily attached to the rod and the drapes and offer added stability. Rings allow the draperies to easily glide along the rod without getting stuck so for rods that may not be as smooth as others, rings can come in handy.
